Accomplishments in 2006 & 2007
• Updated the ADIC Website (www.almonteclub.org).
• Maintenance of the Rosemont bus stop, which has been kept nicely painted and graffiti free.
• Helped prevent the Tamalpais Community Services District (TCSD) from annexing the Almonte Commercial Section on the East Side of Hwy 1 and Shoreline Hwy.
• Participation in the Gateway Planning Committee (advisory committee to Supervisor McGlashan).
• Participation in Safe Routes to School, which resulted in pedestrian crosswalks at Rosemont and Almonte-Miller bus stops being signed and better marked.
• Participation in Non-Motorized Transportation Alternatives of Marin.
• Regarding the ADIC Clubhouse:
- Replaced the toilets at the ADIC Clubhouse
- Repainted the interior of the ADIC Clubhouse
- Put new wiring in on all the overhead lights
- Repaired the handicapped entrance at the ADIC Clubhouse
- Shored up the front steps
- Provided gardening and maintenance of the ADIC Clubhouse
• The ADIC was instrumental in persuading Marin County agencies to take the following actions:
1. Modification of the Marin Countywide Plan: Working with other local communities, we halted a glut of potential housing in the Tam Valley and Almonte commercial areas. We also pushed for more protection of Bothin Marsh and got approval of a study to determine if parcels along the East Side of Hwy 1 & Shoreline Hwy can be added to the Baylands Corridor in the near future. The Baylands Corridor gives added protections to marshlands (see article under "Hot Topics")
2. Mill Valley's "Miller Avenue Beautification Project" now includes the portion of Miller Avenue which runs from the High School to Almonte. Originally this section was not going to be improved, but with Supervisor McGlashan's support and donation to the project, it is being included.
3. The addition of an addendum to the "Marin County Unincorporated Area Bike and Pedestrian Master Plan", which should allow Almonte Steps, Lanes and Paths to be included in the master plan in about a year. The County was going to exclude almost all the steps, lanes and paths in Unincorporated Mill Valley.
4. Restoration in the near future of the Almonte Marsh at the corner of Almonte Blvd. and Miller Ave., next to the Tam High football field. This is an on-going project, which will result in better control of flooding, improvement of natural habitat, beautification of one of our entries and provide an "outdoor" classroom learning experience for Tam High students.
5. Administer parking study and provide adequate parking signs on Harvard.
6. Repave Julia Avenue.
7. Repair and Replace damaged street signs on Rosemont, Julia, Yale, and California.
8. Install new yield signs at dangerous intersections.
9. Unclog drainage at the corner of Rosemont and Almonte.
10. Trim vegetation overgrowth at the Bus Stop opposite Rosemont.
11. Fix several streetlights.
12. Remove overgrowth from the pathway between Rosemont and Cleveland.
